A typical Everest base camp trek from lukla to Everest base camp is 130km long, 65km each way. It does sounds like a lot of trekking but you should know that typical round trek to Everest base camp takes around 12 days. You'll be walking 15km each day & the average walking measure is about 5km/hour. But because of the rocky terrains , slow climbing & depending on your previous trekking experience you'll not be trekking according to that measure. The altitude of Kala pathhar is over 5500m. As you start your trek from lukla & move to phakding where the altitude is over 2500m. likewise Namche bazaar (over 3000m), Tengboche(over 3500m), Pheriche (over 4000m), Dingboche(over 4300m), Dughta(over 4500m), Lobuche(over 4800m), Gorak shep(over 5000m), Everest base camp(over 5300m), Kala pathhar(over 5500m). These are the altitudes of the places you go through before you reach to your main destination Everest base camp.

Due to the sudden change in altitude, there may arise some problem of altitude sickness during your trek. But the best way to avoid  altitude sickness is to move as slowly as you can & take rest during your trek to get used to the altitude.
